The inability of a woman to conceive a child after one year of persisted coitus by the couple is called as infertility. Causes of Infertility:
Age, excessive smoking, or use of alcohol, overweight/obesity, exposure to chemicals, and toxin are some of the risk factors that can cause male infertility. And this can manifest in the form of a decline in healthy sperm production and other sperm parameters like fall in sperm count, shape, and movement of the sperm; thus, reducing the chances’ of healthy conception.
In addition to the above risk factors, medical conditions like hormonal imbalance, retrograde ejaculation, and varicocele can also cause infertility problems in men. And As for women the lifestyle factors mentioned above and other medical conditions like endometriosis, uterine fibroids, pelvic inflammatory disease, PCOD can interfere with the biological process like ovulation, fertilization, and implantation to cause female fertility problems.
Infertility Treatment & Management:
After being diagnosed with infertility by a gynaecologist or an infertility specialist, the infertility treatment schedule must start as soon as possible to ward off further delay. And the type of infertility treatment suggested by the infertility specialist depends upon a variety of factors such as identified causes of fertility, the overall health of the couple, ages, medical conditions, and personal preferences of the couple.
While medications can solve hormonal imbalances, erectile dysfunctions, or conditions that affect sperm parameters, surgery is recommended for medical conditions like varicocele for male infertility.
